One of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan is in the Arashima district of Kyoto. The fine view of Togetsu-kyo Bridge over the Ohi River, the background view of Ogura-yama Mountains, the beautiful cherry blossoms on the sandbank of Nakanoshima, and teahouses lining the side roads, are all totally photogenic. They have probably not changed much over the past one thousand years. Court nobles made great efforts to build summer villas in the Arashiyama district because of its beautiful scenery. Autumn leaves here are also stunning.
